Windrose: How to Recall and Repair Your Ketch
If your Ketch gets stranded or destroyed in Windrose, the recovery path is currently much simpler than many players think. Current wiki documentation and Steam community answers agree that the fix runs through the Wharf.
What You Need First
You need a Wharf built at your base.
Current Wharf cost:
- 10 Wood
- 10 Coarse Fabric
It has to be placed on the shoreline.
Where to Repair a Lost or Destroyed Ship
Go to the Wharf and interact with the table on the platform.
From there, open your ship management menu. Current references describe the recovery option as the Wharf’s Repair/Salvage function.
Current Repair Cost
Current community-confirmed cost:
- 20 Wood
Both the current Windrose wiki and Steam discussion replies point to 20 Wood as the rebuild cost when you need to recover a lost boat or ship.
What “Recall” Means in Practice
In practice, the current loop is:
- return to your base Wharf
- open ship management
- repair or salvage the Ketch
- spend the required wood
- board the restored ship again from the Wharf
So yes, if the ship is gone out at sea, you do not need to sail around hoping to find a second hull.
Important Limitation
Repairing the ship is not the same thing as fully recovering every dropped item. Steam players still report situations where their death marker or floating loot has to be retrieved separately.
So use the Wharf to get the ship back, then decide whether the dropped cargo is worth a return trip.
Best Time to Learn This
Learn the Wharf menu before the Seafarer naval fight, not after disaster happens. That is the same questline where the game starts pushing cannon combat and boarding hard.
Bottom Line
Current Early Access answer:
- build a Wharf
- use the Repair/Salvage option
- expect to pay 20 Wood
If your Ketch disappears, the solution is your base ship station, not a full ship rebuild from scratch.
