Windrose Copper Ingot Guide
If your progression keeps stalling in Windrose, the bottleneck is usually Copper Ingots. They sit in the middle of tools, weapons, bells, shovels, and workshop upgrades, so getting this chain right early saves a lot of wasted time.
Step 1: Craft a Stone Pickaxe
Before you can mine Copper Ore, you need a Stone Pickaxe.
Current Workbench recipe:
- 3 Wood
- 3 Stone
Step 2: Find Copper Deposit Caves
Current Early Access guides place early Copper Ore inside Copper Deposit Caves in the Coastal Jungle.
What to look for:
- a pickaxe icon on the area marker
- a cave entrance that looks like a crack in the rock wall
These caves are dark, so bringing an Oil Lamp or enough wood for temporary floor torches makes the run much smoother.
Step 3: Mine Copper Ore
Use the Stone Pickaxe on the ore nodes until they break.
Two practical tips:
- empty your inventory before the run
- throw away extra Stone if it starts stealing slots from Copper Ore
Step 4: Build the Smelting Chain
You do not turn ore into ingots directly. First you need two build-mode stations:
- Charcoal Kiln: 20 Clay + 20 Wood
- Smelting Furnace: 15 Clay + 30 Stones
This is why Clay matters earlier than many players expect.
Step 5: Make Charcoal, Then Smelt Ingots
Current chain:
- Put 1 Wood into the Charcoal Kiln.
- Get 1 Charcoal and 1 Ash.
- Put 4 Copper Ore and 1 Charcoal into the Smelting Furnace.
- Receive 1 Copper Ingot.
That 4 Copper Ore + 1 Charcoal = 1 Copper Ingot ratio is the important number to remember.
Best Early Uses for Copper Ingots
Current early recipes include:
- Copper Bullets: 1 Copper Ingot
- Copper Nails: 1 Copper Ingot
- Fast Travel Bell: 10 Copper Ingots + 3 Rope
- Copper Axe: 5 Copper Ingots + 5 Wood
- Copper Pickaxe: 5 Copper Ingots + 5 Wood
- Shovel: 3 Copper Ingots + 10 Wood
- Pistol: 5 Copper Ingots + 10 Wood
If you need a travel upgrade first, the Fast Travel Bell guide is the best follow-up.
Best Efficiency Tip
Current guides recommend building multiple Kilns and Furnaces because both stages take time. If you only build one of each, copper production stays slow longer than it needs to.
Bottom Line
Copper Ingots come from a five-step chain:
- craft Stone Pickaxe
- mine Copper Ore in Coastal Jungle caves
- build Charcoal Kiln
- build Smelting Furnace
- smelt 4 Copper Ore + 1 Charcoal
Once that loop is stable, a big part of Windrose progression stops feeling blocked.
