Neverwinter Companion Guide 2026 — Best Companions for Every Role

Companions in Neverwinter are not just pets — they are a core part of your character’s power. With five companion slots and the bolster system, choosing the right companions and upgrading them properly is one of the biggest stat gains you can make.

Companion System Overview

You equip 5 companions in slots and summon 1. The summoned companion fights alongside you. All 5 contribute stats through the companion bolster system:

Companion stats are multiplied by your bolster percentage
Bolster = the total quality of all your companions (Mythic = 10%, Legendary = 8%, Epic = 6%, etc.)
5 Mythic companions = 50% bolster to your summoned companion’s stats, which then transfer to you at a percentage rate

Goal: 10 Mythic companions total (5 equipped + 5 for bolster). This is a long-term goal — start with 1 Mythic summoned companion.

Best Summoned Companions

Every companion has a unique power that applies when equipped (not just summoned). Choose companions whose powers synergise with your build:

Staldorf — +5% Combat Advantage
Neverwinter Knight — +7.5% damage vs. targets below 50% HP
Tomb Spider — +3.75% Critical Severity
Alpha Compy — +5% Power
Deepcrow Hatchling — +7.5% damage vs. targets affected by control effects

Best tank companion powers:

Energon — +32,000 HP at Mythic
Battlefield Medic — +10% incoming healing
Helmite Paladin Ghost — +3% Defence

Best healer companion powers:

Quickling — +3.75% Outgoing Healing
Ioun Stone of Allure — +5% Power
Neverwinter Knight — Damage bonus helps when DPSing between heals

Companion Upgrade Priority

Summoned companion to Mythic — Biggest immediate gain. Your summoned companion contributes the most through direct combat and stat transfer.
Second Mythic companion — Bolster increase.
Third through Fifth Mythic companions — Full 50% bolster from equipped slots.

After your 5 equipped companions are Mythic, work on 5 additional Mythic companions in your collection for the 100% bolster cap.

Upgrade Token Sources

Companion tokens come from:

Astral Diamond purchases (Trade Bar store, Auction House)
Zen Market (during sales — best value)
Events (Summer/Winter Festival, Jubilee)
Battle Pass milestones

Never buy tokens at full Zen Market price. Wait for a 30-50% sale.
