Rust Raiding Guide 2026 — C4, Rockets, Satchels, Beancans & Raid Cost Calculator
Raiding is the endgame of Rust. Understanding explosive costs per building tier lets you plan efficient raids and know exactly what it takes to break into any base.
If you’re looking for Rust raiding guide 2026, Rust raid cost calculator, or C4 vs rockets vs satchels comparison, you’re in the right place.
Explosive Types
Timed Explosive Charge (C4)
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Damage | 550 |
| Craft Cost | 20 Explosives, 5 Cloth, 2 Tech Trash |
| Time to Detonate | 10 seconds |
| Throwable | No (placed on surface) |
Best for: Raiding while the base owner is offline. Precise, reliable damage.
Rocket
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Damage | 275 (direct hit) |
| Craft Cost | 10 Explosives, 150 Gunpowder, 2 Metal Pipes |
| Ammo | Rocket Launcher ($500 scrap to research) |
| Splash | Yes (damages nearby walls) |
Best for: Online raiding. Fast fire rate, splash damage. Can hit multiple walls if aimed at corners.
Satchel Charge
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Damage | 475 (but unreliable) |
| Craft Cost | 4 Beancan Grenades, 1 Small Stash, 1 Rope |
| Detonation | Random (7-12 seconds) |
| Dud Chance | 20% (won’t explode, must re-ignite) |
Best for: Early-game raiding. Cheaper sulfur cost than C4, but unreliable and noisy.
Beancan Grenade
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Damage | 40 |
| Craft Cost | 120 Gunpowder, 20 Metal Fragments |
| Fuse | Random (very short) |
Best for: Raiding wooden doors early wipe. Combine with satchels for sheet doors.
Incendiary Rocket
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Damage | Fire AoE |
| Craft Cost | 2 Explosives, 250 Gunpowder, 1 Metal Pipe |
| Special | Destroys wooden structures quickly |
Best for: Wooden bases, turrets behind walls, raiding through roofs.
Raid Cost Per Building Tier
Walls
| Wall Tier | C4 | Rockets | Satchels | Explosive Ammo |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Twig | 1 | 1 | 1 | 7 |
| Wood | 1 | 2 | 2 | 19 |
| Stone | 2 | 4 | 10 | 46 |
| Sheet Metal | 2 | 4 | 10 | 46 |
| Armored | 4 | 8 | 23 | 93 |
Doors
| Door Type | C4 | Rockets | Satchels |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wooden Door | 1 | 1 | 2 |
| Sheet Metal Door | 1 | 2 | 4 |
| Garage Door | 2 | 3 | 9 |
| Armored Door | 2 | 4 | 12 |
Sulfur Cost Per Raid (Stone Wall)
| Explosive | Quantity | Sulfur Needed |
|---|---|---|
| C4 | 2 | 4,400 Sulfur |
| Rockets | 4 | 5,600 Sulfur |
| Satchels | 10 | 4,800 Sulfur |
C4 is most sulfur-efficient for walls. Rockets are faster but cost more sulfur.
Raid Strategy
Online Raiding (Enemy Online)
- Bring Rockets (fast fire rate)
- Have a teammate covering your back
- Bring extra meds and ammunition
- Kill the base owners before focusing on walls
- Place your own sleeping bag nearby
Offline Raiding (Enemy Offline)
- Use C4 (precise, quiet until explosion)
- Scout the base first. Know where TC likely is
- Raid through the path of least resistance
- Don’t waste explosives on honeycomb — find the direct path to TC
- Be fast — counter-raiders will arrive within 5 minutes of explosions
How to Calculate Raid Cost (Scouting)
Before raiding, estimate the cost:
- Count door layers from outside to TC room: each sheet door = 1 C4, each garage door = 2 C4
- Check wall tier by hitting it. If it barely damages, it’s stone+. Tap with a tool — the sound changes for metal.
- Estimate TC location. Most bases have TC in the most central, most protected room
Minimum viable raid (2x1 with sheet doors):
- 2 sheet doors × 1 C4 each = 2 C4 (4,400 Sulfur)
Raid a honeycombed 2x2:
- 2 sheet doors + 1 garage door + 2 stone walls = 2 C4 + 2 C4 + 4 C4 = 8 C4 (17,600 Sulfur)
Sulfur Farming
| Source | Sulfur Ore | Smelted Sulfur |
|---|---|---|
| Sulfur Node (small) | 150-300 | 150-300 |
| Sulfur Node (medium) | 300-600 | 300-600 |
| Sulfur Node (large) | 600-1,000 | 600-1,000 |
Best sulfur farming: Snow biome (higher node density). Use a jackhammer for 2x speed. Bring a minicopter to transport ore faster.
Defending Against Raids
- Honeycomb walls — doubles raid cost
- Garage doors — cheaper than armored doors, 2x stronger than sheet
- External TCs — prevent raiders from building raid towers or sealing your base
- Shotgun traps and turrets — auto-defend while you’re offline
- Bunker base — a room accessible only by dropping through a floor, invisible to raiders
- Spread loot — never store everything in one box. Use multiple rooms.
Raiding is expensive. Scout thoroughly before committing. Two C4 on the wrong wall can mean the difference between profit and waste.
