EVE Online: Equinox - Skyhook Raid Defense Strategy
The Equinox expansion introduced Player-Owned Skyhooks, massive structures synonymous with resource generation. However, they are prime targets for enemy raids.
Defending your Skyhook is crucial for maintaining sovereignty and income. This guide outlines the meta defense strategy using the โOrbital Denialโ module.

If youโre looking for Defend your player-owned Skyhooks in EVE Online, or Master the Orbital Denial module and counter raid fleets effectively, youโre in the right place.
Understanding the Threat
Raiders typically use fast, cohesive fleets (like Kikimoras or Assault Frigates) to hit Skyhooks, steal the reagents, and warp off before a response fleet can form. Your defense must be immediate and suppressive.
The โOrbital Denialโ Module
Every Skyhook must be fitted with the Orbital Denial System.
- Function: When activated, this module creates a massive gravitational drag bubble around the Skyhook (200km radius).
- Effect: Prevents all warp drives from activating within the sphereโenemy ships cannot warp in or out.
Defensive Deployment
- The Trap: Keep your defense fleet cloaked or docked in specific โResponse Citadelsโ on the same grid.
- Activation: Wait for the raid fleet to commit to the hacking minigame. Once they are linked to the Skyhook, activate the Orbital Denial module.
- The Hammer: With the enemy fleet trapped by the gravitational drag, undock/uncloak your heavy assets. Long-range destroyers or cruisers are best here.
Recommended Fleet Comp
To capitalize on the Orbital Denial window (which lasts 5 minutes), bring high-alpha ships.
- Tornadoes: Great for sniping stationary targets hacking the Skyhook.
- Interdictors: Even though the module stops warp, Interdictors can launch probes to slow down enemies trying to burn out of the 200km bubble.
Warning: The Orbital Denial module has a 1-hour cooldown. Do not waste it on solo raiders; save it for organized gangs.
