Mortal Online 2 Territory Control Guide: How to Claim & Defend Keeps in Reckoning
With the release of the Reckoning expansion, Territory Control in Mortal Online 2 has undergone a massive overhaul. The days of simple keep sniping are gone; now, guilds must manage supply lines, upkeep, and actively defend against the new PvE “Invasion” mechanic.
This guide breaks down exactly how to claim land under the new system and keeping your assets safe.
Initial Claiming: The Promissory Note Change
The old method of simply dropping a deed is no longer sufficient. In Reckoning, you must first obtain a Royal Charter from the capital city of the region you wish to inhabit (Tindrem, Morin Khur, etc.).
- Purchase a Charter: Visit the Imperial Scribe in the capital. Cost: 500 Gold.
- Scout Function: Use the new map “overlay” (press M -> Territory) to see influence zones. You cannot place a keep within the red “Hard Influence” of an existing enemy keep.
- Placement: You must place the foundation within 2 hours of purchasing the Charter, or it expires.
Upkeep & Supply Lines
Keeping a keep is now harder than building one. The Reckoning update introduced Supply Strain.
- Base Upkeep: 50 Granum + 10 Gold per real-life day.
- Distance Multiplier: The further your keep is from a friendly NPC town or another friendly keep, the higher the gold cost.
- Recommendation: Build a chain of smaller “Outposts” (new structure type) to connect your main Keep to a town. This reduces upkeep by up to 40%.
Defending Against Invasions
The most controversial addition is the PvE Invasion system. Every 48 hours, a “Threat Level” checks against your keep’s defense rating.
Invasion Triggers
If your Defense Rating drops below the Local Threat Level (visible at your Keep Manager NPC), an invasion event triggers immediately.
Best Defense Layout
To counter the new siege AI:
- Funnel Points: Build Palisade Walls in a V-shape pointing inwards. The AI pathfinding tries to swarm the gate, bunching them up for mage AoE.
- Guard Towers: Place two Archer Towers behind the main gate, facing the breach. The new “Heavy Ballista” upgrade is essential for taking down invasion Ogre units.
Summary
The Reckoning update punishes inactive guilds. To hold territory in 2026, you need active logistics (moving gold/granum for upkeep) and a smart layout to automate defense against PvE raids. Focus on securing your Supply Line first before upgrading your Keep tier.
