Race and Class

L2 has 6 races and 30+ classes. Start with one of these beginner-friendly options:

RaceClassRoleWhy
HumanWarlordMelee DPSAoE specialist, good for PvE and PvP
Dark ElfShillien KnightTankBest PvP tank, tanky with lifesteal
ElfElven ElderBuffer/HealerAlways wanted in groups
DwarfSpoiler (Bounty Hunter)FarmerBest for farming materials and adena

Recommendation: Human Warlord for PvE grinding and PvP, or Dark Elf Shillien Knight if you enjoy tanking.

PvP System

L2’s PvP is open-world and non-consensual. Any player can attack any other player outside of towns. Killing a non-flagged player makes you a PKer (red name). PKers drop items on death. The karma system punishes excessive PKing but does not prevent it. Always be aware of your surroundings.

Clan Warfare and Castle Sieges

Clans fight for control of castles in scheduled siege events every two weeks. Owning a castle gives tax income from nearby towns. Join a clan as early as possible. Clan buffs, shared hunting grounds, and PvP protection make solo play obsolete.

Leveling and Adena Farming

The grind is real. Farm mobs for EXP and adena (currency). Use shots (Soulshots/Spiritshots) for increased damage — they cost adena but pay for themselves in faster kills. Higher-level zones drop better adena but are contested by PKers. Find quiet hunting spots off the beaten path.

Summary

Start Human Warlord or Dark Elf Knight. Join a clan immediately. Always carry shots. Avoid red-name PKers. Farm adena in quiet zones. Participate in castle sieges for the best rewards.

Adena Farming Guide

Adena is everything in L2. Everything costs adena — gear, shots, teleports, skills.

Level RangeBest SpotAdena/hrRisk
20-35Ruins of Despair10-30kLow
35-45Cruma Tower (1st floor)30-60kMedium
45-55Dragon Valley60-100kHigh (PKers)
55-65Blazing Swamp100-200kHigh
65+Catacombs/Necropolis200-500kExtreme

Always use Soulshots/Spiritshots. They double your damage and pay for themselves through faster kills. A shotless grind is half the adena for twice the time. Buy shots in bulk from Dwarf crafters — 30-50% cheaper than NPC shops.

PvP Survival

  • Purple name = flagged for PvP (attacked someone). Red name = PKer (killed someone). White = safe.
  • If you see a red name, run. PKers have endgame gear and will one-shot leveling players.
  • Never AFK outside towns.
  • Join a clan for protection. Solo players are free targets.
  • Use /loc to save your farming spot coordinates. If you die, you need to run back — no teleport shortcuts.
