GW2 Mount Balrior Raid Unlock Guide
One of the biggest Janthir Wilds pain points is that players keep mixing up Mount Balrior the raid with Convergence: Mount Balrior. They are not the same activity. If you want the actual 10-player raid, this is the clean way to think about the unlock.
What Mount Balrior Is
Mount Balrior is:
- a 10-player raid
- part of the Godspawn release
- the first new raid wing Guild Wars 2 had added in years
So if you are looking for organized raid access, this is the instanced endgame version, not the giant public convergence.
Where to Enter the Raid
The raid lobby for Mount Balrior is the Lion’s Arch Aerodrome.
That matters because many returning players waste time searching Janthir maps for a direct raid portal when the normal raid flow still starts in the Aerodrome.
Mount Balrior Raid vs Convergence: Mount Balrior
Here is the important split:
- Mount Balrior raid: 10-player organized endgame content
- Convergence: Mount Balrior: public instance supporting up to 50 players
The Convergence: Mount Balrior public portal is found at the Bonfire Lodge in Harvest Den, Lowland Shore. That is separate from raid access.
What You Need First
To make sense of Mount Balrior, you should:
- own Janthir Wilds
- start or finish the Godspawn story steps
- understand whether you want the raid or the convergence
If you have not started the release yet, use the Godspawn start guide.
Why Players Get Lost Here
ArenaNet used the same Mount Balrior theme for:
- story chapters
- a convergence
- a raid
That is great for thematic consistency, but it creates awful search friction. Most “How do I get into Mount Balrior?” questions are really “Which version am I actually trying to join?”
Final Tip
If your goal is raiding, go to Lion’s Arch Aerodrome. If your goal is the big public instance, go to the Bonfire Lodge portal in Lowland Shore. That one distinction solves most Mount Balrior unlock confusion immediately.
