Everwind First Ascent Update Guide: New Enemies, Capybara Merchant, and World Seed Transfer
Everwind — the early access multiplayer airship RPG by Bohemia Interactive — has released its first major update, The First Ascent. The update brings new enemies, new merchants (including an extremely important capybara), expanded crafting, and a world generation change that requires action from existing players.
Critical: Character Transfer Required
If you are an existing Everwind player, you need to transfer your character.
The First Ascent changes how world generation is handled, generating a new world seed. Your existing character and airship do not automatically move to the new world. You must use the transfer functionality available in-game to migrate them.
Steps:
- Launch the game and look for the transfer prompt or option in the main menu
- Use the transfer tool to move your character and airship to the new world seed
- Your progress carries over — only your position in the world changes
Failing to transfer means your character remains stuck in the old world, which will likely be deprecated over time.
New Merchants
The First Ascent adds new merchants to the world. The standout:
The Capybara Merchant
A merchant run by a capybara. What does it sell? Exactly what you need, whether you know it or not. The Capybara Merchant is a discovery-type vendor — track it down in the world and see its inventory for yourself.
Additional non-capybara merchants have also been added, rounding out the NPC economy and trade options.
New Enemies
Three new enemy types are introduced in The First Ascent:
| Enemy | Notes |
|---|---|
| Vespers | New flying/aerial threat in the skies |
| Steamer Colossus | Large mechanical or elemental boss-tier enemy |
| Scorpior | Scorpion-type creature, described as deadly |
These enemies drop new materials and present new combat challenges, particularly relevant for players who have already cleared earlier content and need fresh targets.
New Items
A new set of particularly deadly and useful items has been added to the loot tables. These items are designed to be meaningfully powerful — not just incremental upgrades. Worth hunting for.
New Archery Arrows
New arrow types for the Archery skill have been added. These expand the Archery build’s toolkit and add variety to ranged combat options.
Expanded Proximity Crafting
Proximity crafting — a system that lets you craft using nearby resources or stations without manually moving everything to your inventory — has been expanded in scope. More recipes and materials can now be handled through the proximity system, improving workflow for settlement builders.
Background: What Is Everwind?
Everwind is an early access multiplayer RPG set in a world of floating islands traversed by airships. Players build and crew airships, explore the skies, craft equipment, fight enemies, and trade with other players. Bohemia Interactive (known for DayZ and the Arma series) published the title.
The game is lightweight and accessible compared to traditional MMORPGs — closer to a cooperative survival experience than a full-scale online game. It has been in early access since early 2026.
Summary
The First Ascent is Everwind’s biggest content drop yet. Existing players must transfer their characters to the new world seed before the old world becomes inaccessible. New players joining for the first time will start in the new world automatically. The Capybara Merchant is real, it is worth finding, and the new enemies and arrows give active players meaningful new progression to chase.
