S-Tier — Competitive Meta-Defining
Volarend (Toxic/Wind)
Stats: 80 HP / 55 ATK / 65 DEF / 90 SPATK / 58 SPD. Fast special sweeper with Aerobic (+SPD per turn) and attack buffs. Hyperkinetic Strike into Turbine deals devastating neutral damage. Run Toxic Sludge for poison chip on switch-in. Weak to Electric (2x) — always bring a Crystal or Earth partner. The most banned Temtem in competitive due to snowball potential.
Yowlar (Neutral)
Stats: 110 HP / 80 ATK / 75 DEF / 55 SPATK / 42 SPD. Best physical tank in the game. Comebacker trait doubles speed below 40% HP, turning it into a deadly late-game cleaner. Hibernate heals 50% HP and removes status. Run Double Kick + Uppercut + Hibernate + Noxious Bomb. Core of every stall team. Weak to Melee (2x) — pair with Mental types.
Kinu (Nature/Mental)
Stats: 80 HP / 45 ATK / 75 DEF / 85 SPATK / 72 SPD. The best support/healer. Protector trait gives +20% DEF to allies on switch-in. Gaia heals the entire party. Lifeful Sap combines damage and healing. Turbo Choreography buffs the whole team’s speed. Essential for defensive team compositions. Weak to Fire and Digital — bring Water types as partners.
A-Tier — Strong Contenders
Nessla (Electric/Water)
Stats: 75 HP / 55 ATK / 62 DEF / 95 SPATK / 80 SPD. Chain Lightning sweeper. Hydrologist trait heals 15% HP when hit by Water moves (including its own). Tesla Prison traps and damages. Electric Synthesise for self-sustain. Excellent against Water-heavy teams. Weak to Nature (4x!) — do not leave it in against Kinu or Nature attackers.
Gyalis (Crystal/Melee)
Stats: 65 HP / 85 ATK / 45 DEF / 55 SPATK / 95 SPD. Glass cannon physical sweeper. Mirror Shell reflects special attacks. Crystal Bite + Heat Up + Drill Impact for coverage. Extremely fast but extremely fragile — one mistake and it faints. High-risk, high-reward. Run with a tanky partner that can take hits for it.
Ukama (Water)
Stats: 70 HP / 50 ATK / 55 DEF / 90 SPATK / 85 SPD. Pure speed demon. Water Cannon hits hard, Flood does team-wide damage. High SpAtk and Speed make it a consistent threat. Pair with Volarend for a fast, aggressive duo. Weak to Electric (2x) and Nature (2x).
B-Tier — Viable but Outclassed
Myx (Crystal/Mental)
Bulky special sweeper with good coverage. Outclassed by Volarend in speed and Gyalis in damage, but more durable than either. Decent mid-ladder pick. Weak to Digital and Melee.
Tortenite (Earth/Crystal)
Physical wall. 95 DEF + Toughness trait makes it nearly impossible to KO with physical attacks. Slow and passive — relies on chip damage and status. Use in stall teams alongside Yowlar. Weak to Water and Melee.
Nagaise (Electric/Fire)
Hybrid attacker with good coverage. Lava Wave + Electric Storm hits most types for neutral. Held back by mediocre Speed (65). Needs speed support from Turbo partners.
PvE Recommendations
For the story and Dojo rematches, type coverage matters more than competitive viability:
- Bring a Toxic type (Volarend, Nidrasil) — counters Mental and Nature
- Bring an Electric type (Nessla, Gazuma) — counters Water, Wind, Digital
- Bring a Crystal type (Gyalis, Myx) — counters Electric and Toxic
- Bring a Fire type (Nagaise, Raican) — counters Nature and Crystal
- Fill remaining slots with Mental (Kinu) for healing or Melee (Yowlar) for physical damage
