With hundreds of T6 ships in Star Trek Online, choosing the right one can be paralysing. This tier list ranks ships by role and acquisition method — including the best free event ships, C-store ships, and premium lockbox/promo ships.

How Ship Rankings Work

A ship’s performance depends on:

Weapon layout (fore/aft slots, 5/3 or 4/4)
Console layout (Tactical, Engineering, Science)
Bridge Officer seating (specifically Commander and Lt. Commander slots)
Ship trait (the T6 mastery unlock)
Hangar bays (for carriers)

A ship with 5/3 weapons, 5 tactical consoles, and a Commander Tactical seat will always outperform a 3/3 science-heavy cruiser for energy weapon DPS.

S-Tier DPS Ships

The highest damage ceiling in the game. 5/3 weapons, Commander Tactical, Miracle Worker specialisation, and the strongest energy weapon trait (Superior Area Denial). No ship beats it for raw DPS. Downside: extremely expensive (promo box, 1.5+ billion EC on the Exchange).

Terran Lexington Dreadnought Cruiser (C-Store)

The best C-store DPS platform. 4/4 weapons, Miracle Worker seating, a hangar bay, and an excellent trait (Adaptive Offense). Accessible, powerful, and versatile. Can tank and DPS simultaneously.

Inquiry Battlecruiser (C-Store)

5/3 weapons, excellent seating, great trait. Slightly less durable than the Lexington but higher damage ceiling. Better for advanced players who do not need the extra survivability.

A-Tier — Strong Choices

Gagarin Miracle Worker Battlecruiser (C-Store) — Best trait for Fire at Will builds (Entwined Tactical Matrices). Good ship even without the trait.
Arbiter Battlecruiser (C-Store) — Essential trait (Emergency Weapon Cycle). Every energy weapon build needs this trait. Ship itself is solid.
Eagle Pilot Raider (C-Store) — Best torpedo boat. If you want to play a kinetic build, this is the ship.

Summer/Winter/Anniversary Event Ships

Fleet Ships

Join a fleet and earn fleet credits. Fleet versions of C-store ships have +1 console slot and better stats. You need the C-store version to unlock the fleet discount, but fleet-only purchases are possible at full price.

Science (Exotic Damage) Ships

Science ships rely on exotic damage abilities (Gravity Well, Subspace Vortex) rather than energy weapons. They scale differently and do not benefit from the same traits as beam boats.

Tank/Cruiser Ships

Constitution III Miracle Worker Cruiser (Promo) — Best tank. Insane hull, great seating, excellent trait.
Lexington (C-Store) — Already covered. Best affordable tank.
Chronos Temporal Dreadnought (Lobi) — Very tanky, good for beginners.

What to Buy First (C-Store Priority)

Arbiter Battlecruiser — For the trait. Every energy build uses Emergency Weapon Cycle.
Gagarin — For Entwined Tactical Matrices. Huge DPS increase for Fire at Will builds.
Lexington — Your endgame ship. Use it with the traits from 1 and 2.
