PSO2 New Genesis May 2026 Update: Anniversary LTQ Returns

The second half of May 2026 update for Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is live. The headline content: the return of the annual Anniversary Limited Time Quest — Dazzling Chaos Suppression Op ‘26.

What Is the Dazzling Chaos Suppression Op?
The Dazzling Chaos Suppression Op is a yearly Anniversary LTQ (Limited Time Quest) that returns each year around PSO2 NGS’s anniversary. As a limited-time quest, it is only available for a defined window before rotating out until next year.
For the 2026 iteration, the quest structure is:
- Fight through a gauntlet of mobs and 6 different bosses
- End the quest with a fight against Resplendent Nex Aelio as the final encounter
- New lineup of enemies — the quest has been refreshed with enemies not present in previous LTQ iterations
- Mechanical tweaks to the LTQ format
Limited Time Urgent Quest: And the Stars Fell D.2
The second major new piece of content is a Limited Time Urgent Quest (LTUQ): And the Stars Fell D.2.
This is a fight against a twice-weakened version of Malignant Dark Falz Vael. The weakened version is the LTUQ format — it is not a full Vael encounter. Community notes indicate the timer can still be a challenge even with the weakened version.
Limited Time Quest: Drill: Breezy Summer Aelio Defense
The third new content piece is the Drill: Breezy Summer Aelio Defense LTQ — one of the more socially competitive quest types in NGS.
The format: compete against other players for the most killing blows on monsters and the most damage dealt to bosses. Points determine how many Seasonal Points you earn, with more Quest Points awarded for rarer enemy variants and Rappies. This creates an incentive structure to target rarer enemies over easy kills.
New Cosmetics: Noble Shadows ‘26
The AC Scratch Ticket for this update is Noble Shadows ‘26, featuring:
- An asymmetrical assassin-themed outfit
- A “street swords(wo)man” outfit — an urban swordfighter aesthetic
- The same outfits adapted for male characters
- Additional cosmetics included in the standard AC Scratch rotation
Seasonal shop updates are also live with new seasonal items.
As with all NGS seasonal updates, AC Scratch cosmetics are time-limited — if the Noble Shadows outfits are something you want, acquire them before the rotation ends.
PSO2 NGS Background (For New Players)
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is a free-to-play action MMORPG by SEGA, launched in 2021 as a standalone sequel to PSO2. It features:
- Action combat — real-time dodging, countering, and weapon-type specific move sets
- Classes: Hunter, Fighter, Ranger, Gunner, Force, Techter, Braver, Bouncer, Waker, Slayer (and additional subclass combinations)
- Open world sectors alongside instanced content
- N-Meseta (free currency) and SG (Star Gems) (premium currency, earnable in-game at a limited rate)

Should You Log In for This Update?
If you are a returning PSO2 NGS player, the Anniversary LTQ is the specific time to come back. The combination of a refreshed LTQ with new enemies, mechanical tweaks, and anniversary cosmetics is the most content-dense point of the year outside of major expansions. Limited-time cosmetics are by definition unavailable after the window closes.
If you have never played PSO2 NGS and are curious, the game is free to download and start. Anniversary events are a decent time to start because the population boost from returning players means more active lobbies and potentially easier time filling LTQ groups.
