Pax Dei Beginner Guide 2026

Pax Dei is a social sandbox MMO inspired by medieval legends. There are no classes or levels — progression is entirely through crafting, building, and social cooperation.

Starting out: Gather basic resources (wood, stone, flax). Craft simple tools at a workbench. Join a clan as soon as possible — solo play is possible but slow. Clans share resources and build larger settlements.

Building: Claim a plot of land using a Clan Banner. Build your homestead — a house, crafting stations, storage. Building is freeform; place walls, floors, and roofs block by block. Upgrade materials from wood to stone to metal as you progress.

Crafting: The only progression system. Craft items to gain crafting skill. Higher skill unlocks better recipes. Specialise in one or two crafting disciplines (Blacksmith, Tailor, Alchemist) and trade with other players.

Note: Verified as of July 2026. Check official patch notes for updates.

Crafting Progression Path

Pax Dei has no levels — your progression is entirely through crafting skill. Each tier unlocks better recipes and materials.

TierMaterialsKey UnlocksEst. Hours
T1 (Novice)Wood, Stone, FlaxBasic tools, thatch structures0-5
T2 (Apprentice)Copper, Tin, WoolMetal tools, wooden structures5-15
T3 (Journeyman)Iron, Leather, GlassWeapons, stone structures, mid-game armour15-40
T4 (Master)Steel, Silk, GemsEndgame gear, market trading40+

Crafting tip: Focus on one profession to T3 before branching out. A T3 Blacksmith can craft weapons for your entire clan. Trade with other specialists rather than leveling everything yourself. The in-game market at major clan hubs is the best place to buy missing materials.

Solo vs Clan Play

Solo play is viable but slow. Clans provide shared storage, faster building, and resource pooling. Most clans recruit actively in the official Discord. If you prefer solo:

  • Build near a major road for trading access
  • Specialise in high-demand crafts (Blacksmith, Alchemist)
  • Sell excess materials on the market for silver
  • Join a clan temporarily for group content, leave when done
