Marvel Rivals Cyclops Guide: Abilities, Combos, and Team-Ups (Season 8.5)

Cyclops arrived in Marvel Rivals on June 12, 2026 as part of the Season 8.5 update. He joins the roster as a Duelist — a ranged DPS built around precision optic blasts, ricochet mechanics, and strong mobility.

Voiced by Ray Chase (X-Men ‘97), Cyclops enters the fray after Phoenix rescues him from Alchemax. Prolonged Chronovium exposure has left him unable to close his eyes, making his optic blasts permanent — and devastating.

Cyclops Abilities

Cyclops has 275 HP and a hitscan-based kit that rewards aim and positioning.

Optic Blast	LMB	Fire a quick burst of kinetic force. Hits accelerate Ricochet Force charge rate.
Concussive Beam	RMB	Continuous beam that refracts between enemies and environment. Accelerates Ricochet Force.
Ruby Rage	Q (Ultimate)	Remove visor, fire a sweeping beam that destroys barriers. Leaves volatile energy that explodes for massive secondary damage.
Propulsion Burst	SHIFT	Push yourself and target backward, applying Slow to the enemy.
Ricochet Force	E	Beam that tracks nearby enemies after hitting terrain. Grants Bonus Health on use.
Optic Ascent	F	Propulsion beam downward to launch yourself up, knocking back and slowing enemies.
Kinetic Hover	Passive	Slow-fall while firing Concussive Beam mid-air.

Team-Up Ability: Blast Slash

Cyclops supercharges Wolverine’s claws, extending his attack range. Wolverine’s Vicious Rampage is replaced with Kinetic Claws — a brief forward lunge unleashing a flurry of slashes.

How to Play Cyclops

Core Playstyle

Cyclops is a hitscan ranged DPS — his attacks register instantly, making him consistent at medium range. He shares similarities with Moon Knight’s ricochet mechanics but trades some AoE for raw beam damage.

Positioning is critical. Stay behind your frontline, use Propulsion Burst to create distance when pressured, and use Optic Ascent to reach high ground.

Combo Rotation

Open with Optic Blast (LMB) to build Ricochet Force charge
Use Ricochet Force (E) for tracking damage around corners
Finish targets with Concussive Beam (RMB) for sustained pressure
Ruby Rage (Q) when enemies group up or push through chokepoints

Best Team Compositions

Wolverine — The Blast Slash team-up is mandatory if you have a Wolverine on your team
Phoenix — Cyclops’s wife (Jean Grey) provides strong synergy and lore-friendly combos
Magneto — Bubble protection lets Cyclops beam safely
Hela — Dual hitscan poke creates overwhelming ranged pressure

Dive tanks (Venom, Hulk) who close the gap before he can create distance
