In Gloria Victis, personal skill wins duels, but siege equipment wins wars. Controlling castles and territory requires the ability to craft and deploy heavy weaponry on the fly.
Crafting the Essentials
To be a useful engineer, you need to stockpile specific resources.
1. The Trebuchet
The ultimate wall-breaker. You cannot take a fortified keep without one.
- Material Costs:
- Iron Ingots: For the reinforcements and pivot points.
- Hardwood Boards: The frame requires high-tier wood, not just green wood.
- Stones: You need ammo. Don’t build the weapon and forget the projectiles.
- Usage: Set this up far back. Its job is to destroy walls and gatehouses.
2. The Ballista
The anti-personnel sniper.
- Material Costs:
- Oil: Essential for the mechanism.
- Hardwood Boards: Strong, flexible wood for the bow arms.
- Usage: Place these on high ground or flanking positions. They are excellent for sniping enemy engineers repairing walls or taking out archers on the battlements.
Logistics Management
Siege equipment is heavy. You cannot carry a Trebuchet kit in your inventory alongside a full set of armor and food.
- The Supply Wagon: Coordinate with your guild to bring a supply wagon. It acts as a mobile chest, allowing you to transport the heavy Iron Ingots and Timber needed to build multiple engines during a prolonged siege.
