Throne and Liberty: Siege of Stonegard - Castle Defense Strategy

The Siege of Stonegard is the pinnacle of large-scale PvP in Throne and Liberty. Holding the castle against hundreds of attackers requires coordination, specifically regarding Golem usage and wall defense.

This guide outlines the meta strategy for successful defense in the current patch.

Golem Placement Strategy

Defenders can spawn Golems, and where you place them determines the flow of the siege.

• North Gate (The Choke): Place a Stone Crash Golem here. The narrow bridge forces attackers to group up, making them easy targets for the Golem’s AoE stun.
• South Gate (The Distraction): Use a Battle Carrier Golem. Its mobility allows it to harry attackers trying to scale the side walls or move siege towers. Do not commit your main force here; use the Golem to delay.

The “Recall” Flank Defense

A common attacker tactic is to sneak a small squad of dagger users onto the back walls to disrupt spawn points.

• The Tactic: Assign one party equipped with Recall Scrolls to the inner sanctum.
• Execution: When “Wall Breach” is called, this party uses the scrolls to instantly teleport to the outer wall flags. This cuts off the enemy sneak attack before they can establish a foothold.

Best Weapon Combos for Wall Defense

Defenders have the height advantage. Your goal is to rain damage down while remaining un-targetable.

1. Longbow / Crossbow

• Role: Sniper.
• Why: Max range capabilities allow you to hit siege tower drivers before they reach the wall. Use Merciless Barrage on clusters of enemies at the gate.

2. Wand / Dagger

• Role: Crowd Control / Utility.
• Why: Sleep bombs and AoE curses spread rapidly in the zerg below. The Dagger’s Camouflage cloak is essential for surviving if attackers breach the wall.

Trait Focus: Evasion

For all defenders, stack Evasion traits on your armor. Attackers will be focusing fire on the ramparts. High evasion (Range/Magic) ensures you survive the initial volley of spells, allowing your healers to top you up.
