OSRS: Sailing Skill - Port Piscarilius XP Rates (Level 70-85)

Since the launch of the Sailing skill in late 2025, players have been scrambling to find the meta for mid-to-high level training. For players in the Level 70-85 bracket, the docks of Port Piscarilius offer some of the best experience rates in the game, provided you choose the right activities.

The Meta: Courier Missions to Varlamore

Forget everything you’ve heard about open ocean exploration for this level range. The absolute best XP/Hr currently comes from Courier Missions originating from Port Piscarilius and terminating in Varlamore.

  • XP Rate: ~110k - 135k XP/Hr
  • GP/Hr: ~400k - 600k (scaling with cargo value)
  • Requirement: 70 Sailing, Varlamore Access

These missions generate high Sailing XP chunks upon delivery, rather than small trickles of XP during travel. The route is relatively safe, minimizing the downtime from repairing your hull or fighting off sea monsters.

Essential Captain Trait: Navigator

To maximize your rates, you must have a Captain with the “Navigator” trait recruited on your ship.

  • Effect: Reduces travel ticks by 15% on charted routes.
  • The Navigator trait is essential for hitting the 135k XP/hr cap. Without it, you are looking at sub-100k rates, which makes this method less competitive than piracy.

Trap to Avoid: Deep Sea Fishing

Many players default to Deep Sea Fishing thinking it combines Sailing and Fishing XP efficiently. Avoid this at all costs for Sailing gains.

  • Why it’s bad: The Sailing XP drop is only awarded when you catch a deep-sea fish. The catch rate is too slow to provide consistent Sailing XP.
  • Verdict: Only do Deep Sea Fishing if you prioritize Fishing XP over Sailing. If you want to hit 99 Sailing, stick to Courier Missions.

oscillating Your Route

  1. Pick up Contract: Speak to Captain Tolo in Port Piscarilius.
  2. Load Cargo: Ensure your ship has a Medium Hold or larger.
  3. Set Sail: Auto-chart to Varlamore Docks.
  4. Events: Ignore “Distress Signal” random events; they take too long. Only stop for “Floating Debris” if you need supplies.
  5. Deliver & Repeat: Teleport back to Port Piscarilius (using the Kharedst’s Memoirs or Spirit Tree) to grab the next contract immediately.
