New World: Season of Rot - Blight Resist Gear Crafting
The Season of Rot has brought a deadly new environment to Aeternum. The new expedition, Blighted Grove, features enemies that stack “Blight” ticks rapidly. Without dedicated resistance gear, even the tankiest builds will melt in seconds.
Here is your guide to crafting the essential Blight Resist gear for this season.
The Goal: 40% Resistance
To survive the final boss of Blighted Grove on M3 difficulty, you need approximately 40% Blight Resistance. This cannot be achieved through consumables alone; you need the gear.
Key Ingredient: Corrupted Sap
Most recipes require Corrupted Sap, a new resource.
- Where to find: Harvested from Rot-Infested Trees in Edengrove and Shattered Mountain.
- Tool Requirement: Logging Axe with Blight Luck (new perk) yields double drops.
Crafting the Gear
The Perk: “Verdant”
You are looking for the Verdant armor perk, which provides specific Blight damage absorption.
- Craft Mod: Petrified Root.
- Source: Drops from elite Dryad mobs in the open world.
Best Slot Strategy
Do not ruin your 700 GS combat armor by forcing Blight resist on every piece. Focus on these slots:
- Jewelry (Amulet): This is mandatory. Craft a Pristine Onyx Amulet and force the Verdant perk using a Golden Scarab. This single piece can provide up to 15% resistance.
- Shield (Tanks): A Tower Shield with Verdant Ward is best-in-slot for this dungeon.
Armor Weight Recommendation
For Blighted Grove, Medium Armor is the recommended weight class for DPS and Healers.
- Why: You need the dodge distance to escape the large AoE blight pools, but the physical mitigation of Heavy armor isn’t effective against the elemental Blight damage. Medium offers the best balance of resist and mobility.
Consumable Stacking
Remember to pair your new gear with a Strong Blight Tincture. The tincture clears the stack, while your gear mitigates the incoming damage tick. You need both to survive the Boss’s “Rot Nova” mechanic.
