MU Online Blood Castle Guide

Blood Castle is one of MU Online’s oldest and most iconic timed events. A wave of monster-killing objectives and boss fights packed into a short instance, Blood Castle provides essential upgrade materials and is a key progression event for characters at all levels. Running Blood Castle regularly is one of the most consistent ways to obtain Jewels of Bless, Jewels of Soul, and other enhancement materials.

What Is Blood Castle?

Blood Castle is a scheduled multiplayer event that occurs at specific times throughout the day. Players enter a castle under siege, defeat enemies to restore a broken weapon, kill a boss, and escape with their rewards.

Key facts:

  • Up to 15 players can enter a single Blood Castle instance
  • Runs are time-limited (approximately 20 minutes)
  • There are multiple Blood Castle stages (BC1 through BC7, or higher depending on the version) — each stage is calibrated for different character power levels
  • Entry requires a Blood Castle Scroll appropriate to your character’s level

Entry Requirements

Blood Castle Scroll

To enter Blood Castle, you need a Scroll of Archangel (also called Invitations to Blood Castle, depending on the game version). These are:

  • Dropped by monsters appropriate to your level range
  • Obtainable from specific NPCs or in-game events
  • Sometimes sold by other players

Each scroll specifies which Blood Castle stage it grants entry to. A Scroll for BC3 only works for BC3.

Level Requirements

Each Blood Castle stage has a minimum and maximum character level requirement. Entering a stage too high for your level is not possible. The stages generally scale as:

  • BC1 — Low-level characters
  • BC2–BC4 — Mid-game characters
  • BC5–BC7 — Endgame and Master level characters

Match your scroll to the appropriate stage for your current level.

Blood Castle Objectives

Once inside Blood Castle, the event proceeds in phases:

Phase 1: Kill the Gate and Bridge

The castle entrance is blocked by gate monsters and a broken bridge. Defeat the gate guardian to open passage.

Phase 2: Defeat the Archangel’s Weapon Guardians

The Archangel’s weapon has been scattered. Specific Statue of Saint or guardian monsters drop the Broken Sword/Staff/Bow pieces that must be collected.

Phase 3: Retrieve the Weapon

After killing the guardians, the weapon fragment drops on the floor. Pick it up and carry it to the Archangel NPC in the castle to restore the weapon. Only one player can carry the weapon piece at a time.

Phase 4: Kill the Blood Castle Boss

After restoring the weapon, a boss monster spawns (or was already present). Defeat the boss before the time limit expires.

Phase 5: Escape

After defeating the boss, exit through the opened gate to complete the event and receive rewards.

Rewards

Completing Blood Castle within the time limit awards:

ItemUsage
Jewel of BlessPrimary item upgrade material; adds +1 item level
Jewel of SoulAdds +1 item level with added stats
Jewel of ChaosRequired for Chaos Machine crafting (see Chaos Machine guide)
ExperienceBonus XP for completing the event
Equipment dropsHigher-stage Blood Castles sometimes drop equipment from boss

Reward quantity and quality scale with the Blood Castle stage. BC7 rewards significantly outclass BC1 rewards.

Score-Based Rewards

Blood Castle has a score system. Your score is based on:

  • Number of monsters killed
  • Whether you personally carried the weapon to the Archangel
  • Speed of completion (faster = better score)

Higher personal scores award more Jewels and Zen (gold) from the event reward chest.

Blood Castle Stage Selection

Choose the highest stage appropriate for your level where you can meaningfully contribute:

  • Go too low — trivial content, minimum rewards
  • Go too high — won’t meet level requirement, can’t enter
  • Target the highest stage you qualify for — best rewards for your time

Characters with strong AoE skills (Dark Wizard, Elf’s Multishot, etc.) excel at Blood Castle because killing large numbers of monsters is essential for a high score.

Tips for Blood Castle

  1. Join a group rather than going solo — 15-player parties clear faster and get better completion times
  2. AoE classes are most efficient — high monster kill count maximises score
  3. Always pick up the weapon fragment if you’re closest to it — carrying it to the Archangel is a major score boost
  4. Don’t ignore the boss — lingering to farm mobs after the boss spawns wastes time
  5. Run Blood Castle daily — Jewels of Bless and Soul are consumed regularly by item upgrades; a steady supply is important
  6. Keep a stock of Scrolls — Farm scrolls from regular monster grinding so you always have one for Blood Castle entry
