Lost Ark T4 Update: New Engraving System Explained
The Tier 4 (T4) update has arrived in the West, bringing the biggest system overhaul in Lost Ark history. The days of cutting 9/7 stones for a tiny optimization are over. The Ark Passive system is here.
What is Ark Passive?
Instead of equipping Engraving “books” and accessories with points, your character now has a Talent Tree accessible via the profile (P).
The Three Tabs
- Evolution (Blue): General stats (Crit, Swift, Spec) and mana regen.
- Enlightenment (Yellow): Your Class Engraving. You can now mix-and-match effects from both Class Engravings more easily.
- Ascension (Red): The old “Combat Engravings” (Grudge, Cursed Doll, etc.).
Major Changes to Meta Engravings
Grudge (Redesigned)
- Old: +20% Dmg taken, +20% Dmg dealt.
- New: Still gives damage, but the penalty is now a “Healing Received Reduction” rather than extra damage taken. This makes squishy classes much more viable in raids like Echidna.
Cursed Doll (Dead?)
- Cursed Doll has been nerfed. It provides less Attack Power than Adrenaline or the new T4 engraving Limit Break. Most builds are dropping it.
New Engraving: “Limit Break”
- increases Damage by 15%. If you use your Awakening, you gain +5% Attack Speed and +5% Move Speed for 30s. Perfect for Dominion set users.
How to Transition
- Don’t panic sell. Your T3 accessories can be “converted” for T4 mats, but they lose value rapidly.
- Focus on Shards. T4 progression is gated heavily by Shards. Do your Chaos Dungeons (now 1x daily!).
- Stone Cutting: You still need a stone, but it provides raw vitality and “nodes” for the Ark Passive tree rather than engraving points. A 7/7 stone is sufficient for 99% of content.
The T4 system is a massive QoL win, removing the RNG of accessory drops and letting you swap builds (Raid vs Chaos) with a single click in the UI.
