Guild Wars 2: How to Craft Koda’s Flame
The finale of the Janthir Wilds expansion has introduced a new best-in-slot item for condition damage builds: the Koda’s Flame Legendary Relic. This guide breaks down the crafting requirements, the precursor achievement, and the Mystic Forge recipe needed to forge this fiery artifact.
Why Craft Koda’s Flame?
Unlike other relics, Koda’s Flame offers a unique passive: Burning duration is increased by 20%. Upon applying burning to an enemy, emit a fire nova (3s cooldown). It captures the functionality of the old Aristocrat and Balthazar runes but adds a visual flair that dyes with your armor.
Step 1: The Precursor (Spirit of the Wilds)
You cannot buy the precursor. You must complete the “Trial of the Kodiak” achievement found in the Lowland Shore category.
- Speak to Elder Heal-All in the Lowland Kodan village.
- Defeat the World Boss in Janthir Syntri 5 times.
- Collect 50 “Frozen Ectoplasm” from icebrood enemies in Bjora Marches.
- Complete the “Offering to Koda” regular event (requires throwing 100 fish into the sacred fire).
Reward: Box of Captured Spirits (Select “Spirit of the Flame”).
Step 2: Gift of the Hearth
Combine the following in the Mystic Forge:
- 1 Gift of Condensed Magic
- 1 Gift of Condensed Might
- 250 T6 Fangs
- 250 T6 Blood
Step 3: Gift of Janthir (Expansion Gift)

Step 4: Forging Koda’s Flame
Combine these four items in the Mystic Forge:
- Spirit of the Flame (Precursor)
- Gift of the Hearth
- Gift of Janthir
- 250 Mystic Coins
