Last Verified: May 2026

What Is Eldir Online?
Eldir Online is a solo-developed MMORPG that has been building its core systems over an extended development period. Like most solo dev MMO projects, the scope is intentionally limited — this is not attempting to compete with large studio productions. The focus is on getting a coherent RPG loop working before expanding.
This puts it in the same space as Dreadholm, SpiritVale, and similar solo or tiny-team MMOs that have gained traction in the indie MMO community in 2025-2026 based on the transparency and engagement of their developers.
New Features in the May 29 Build
The developer listed the following additions in their r/MMORPG post:
Quest system: The game now has an implemented quest system. This is a foundational feature — before quest systems are in place, RPGs lack structured progression and direction for new players. Having it in the May 29 build means the playtest should have actual objectives to pursue rather than open-ended wandering.
Banking system: A banking system is now implemented. For an MMORPG, this means players have somewhere to store items beyond their inventory — a basic but essential infrastructure piece for any economy or progression system.
Fuller roster of interactable NPCs: Both in town and outside of town. NPC density and interactability are central to making an RPG world feel alive. Having NPCs outside of town means the outdoor areas should feel populated rather than empty.
More areas and content: The developer spent time expanding the explorable world and available content.
Bug fixes and performance improvements: Overall smoothness has been improved to provide a better experience than previous builds.
What to Expect From a Pre-Alpha Playtest
This is explicitly a pre-alpha test, which means:
- Systems will be incomplete or placeholder
- Content will be sparse relative to a finished game
- Bugs, server issues, and balance problems are expected
- The purpose is to test whether core loops work and to gather player feedback
The value of participating in a pre-alpha playtest for an indie MMO is primarily the opportunity to give meaningful feedback to a developer who is actively listening. Solo dev projects especially benefit from community input at this stage because one person cannot fully anticipate what the player experience feels like.
