Corepunk Early Access: Is it Worth Playing in 2026?

After numerous delays, Corepunk entered Open Early Access last month. It markets itself as a “Fog-of-War MMO”. Here is the state of the game after 4 weeks.

The Good: Tactical Combat

The top-down, MOBA-style combat is genuinely challenging.

  • You have to account for turn rates and projectile speeds.
  • The “Artifact” system allows for crazy builds (e.g., a Tank Sniper).

The Bad: The Grind

The pacing is glacial.

  • Movement: Walking is slow. Mounts aren’t unlocked until Level 20 (approx 30 hours in).
  • Regen: Health and Mana do not regenerate out of combat. You MUST eat food or use campfires. This slows gameplay down significantly.

The Fog of War

It creates genuine tension. You never know if resources or a gank squad are around the corner. However, it can be frustrating for exploration, as you can miss quest objectives simply because they were 2 feet into the fog.

Verdict

Corepunk is not for casuals. It is a punishing, slow-burn RPG. If you liked Classic WoW leveling but wanted League of Legends combat, this is your home. If you want instant gratification, stay away.
