Broken Ranks: ‘Puppeteer’ Boss Solo Strategy for Voodoo Shaman

The Puppeteer is one of the most frustrating early-to-mid game bosses for solo players in Broken Ranks. His ability to summon minions and manipulate the turn timer can wipe unprepared parties instantly.

As a Voodoo Shaman, however, you have the tools to trivialise this encounter if you follow a strict rotation.

The Mechanic: Turn Breakdown

You have 10 seconds per turn to select your actions. Panic is the enemy.

  1. Phase 1: Debuff Stacking

    • Action: Cast Curse of Weakness (Rank 3+) immediately.
    • Action: Follow up with Plague (DoT).
    • Goal: Reduce his damage output before the adds spawn.
  2. Phase 2: Add Management

    • Puppets Spawn: Two “Wood Puppets” appear.
    • Strategy: Ignore the main boss. Focus Life Drain on the puppets to keep your HP topped off while the DoTs tick on the boss.
    • AoE: Use Pestilence if both puppets are alive.
  3. Phase 3: Execute

    • Puppeteer Enrage: At 30% HP, he hits harder.
    • Action: Pop your defensive cooldown Spirit Shield.
    • Action: Dump all remaining mana into Soul Spike for burst damage.

Gear Check

  • Weapon: Staff with +Debuff Power or +DoT Duration.
  • Stats: Prioritize Knowledge (Magic Dmg) and Willpower (Mana Pool). You need a large mana pool to sustain the long fight.
  • Pet: Bring a Tank Pet (Bear/Boar) to soak hits during the add phase.

Summary

The key is patience. Let your DoTs do the work while you focus on survival and mana management. Don’t rush; the Puppeteer punishes greed.
