The Haranir have finally joined the Horde and Alliance as a playable Allied Race in The War Within patch 11.2. Prerequisite: Roots of the World Tree
Before you can start the recruitment questline, you must earn the [Roots of the World Tree] achievement. This is a meta-achievement involving three distinct storylines in Khaz Algar:
- Guardian of the Deep: Complete the main campaign in Azj-Kahet.
- Photosynthesis Protocol: Reach Renown 15 with the Wardens of the Root faction.
- Severing the Decay: Defeat the optional boss Xal’atath’s Echo in the “Roots of Shaladrassil” mega-dungeon on Mythic difficulty.
Farming Wardens of the Root Renown
The fastest way to hit Renown 15 in 2026 is by completing the daily “Root-Weaving” world quests. Make sure to buy the Contract: Wardens of the Root from the auction house for that extra 15 rep per world quest.
The Recruitment Scenario: “Cycle of Rebirth”
Once the achievement is complete, head to the embassy in your faction’s capital (Stormwind or Orgrimmar). A messenger will offer the quest “Call of the Root.”
You will be transported to the emerald pathways beneath Khaz Algar. The scenario involves three stages:
- Defend the Sapling: Hold off waves of Void-touched insects.
- Cleanse the Waters: Use the provided Purified Seed action button on 5 corruption nodes.
- Boss Fight - Corrupted Ancient: Interrupt Decaying Roar or you will be feared for 6 seconds.
Haranir Racials
- Photosynthetic Skin: Passive health regeneration increases by 20% while outdoors.
- Rootbound: (Active) Root enemies within 8 yards for 2 seconds. 1.5 min cooldown.
