How the math works

Genshin damage is a chain of independent multipliers, which is why one weak link (enemy resistance, defense from fighting up-level bosses, missing reaction) can cost you more than a whole artifact set. The calculator multiplies your attack by your talent's scaling, then applies your damage-bonus bucket, the crit factor, the defense multiplier from both combatant levels, the resistance curve of the enemy, and finally any amplifying reaction — Vaporize or Melt — with your Elemental Mastery on top.

The EM curve is the part most players misjudge: Mastery bonuses stack on top of the 1.5×/2.0× base reaction multiplier, so 200 EM is worth roughly 39% extra and 400 EM roughly 56%. That makes EM sands worth real math instead of vibes on every reaction carry — Halve-level defense penalties hit just as hard: a level-90 character against level-95 content loses nearly half its damage to defense before resistance applies, which is why enemy level is one of the biggest levers in the calculator.

All formulas match the community-documented damage model used by theorycrafting libraries — single-hit amp-reaction scope only, no transformative-reaction or multi-hit ICD modeling. Frequently asked questions

Does this calculator need an account or send data anywhere?

No. All math runs in your browser — nothing is transmitted, so it works offline and never touches your game account.

Which damage formula does it use?

The standard community-verified formula: ATK × talent multiplier × (1 + damage bonus%) × crit factor × enemy defense multiplier × enemy resistance multiplier × reaction multiplier, with Elemental Mastery scaling for Vaporize and Melt.

How does Elemental Mastery change Vaporize and Melt?

Amplifying reactions multiply by 1.5× or 2.0× depending on trigger order, then gain a bonus of 2.78 × EM / (EM + 1400). 200 EM adds roughly 39% on top of the base reaction multiplier.

Why does enemy level matter so much?

Enemy defense scales with level: attacking a level 95 boss with a level 80 character roughly halves your damage versus a same-level target, before resistance is even applied.

Example: Vaporize hit calculation

2200 ATK, 400% talent, 90% DMG%, 70% CR / 160% CD, lvl 90 vs lvl 93, 10% res, 220 EM, Vaporize 2.0×. Result: expected 89,432 dmg, non-crit 52,607, crit 134,141. Def mult 96.6%, res mult 90.9%.
