Soulframe June 2026 Update Guide: Gods & Ghosts Prelude — Loot, Gear Trading, New Weapons, Totems
Soulframe, the pre-alpha action RPG from Digital Extremes (developers of Warframe), is laying out its June 2026 roadmap in detail. The next Preludes build is called Gods & Ghosts and focuses primarily on revamping core systems rather than adding raw content volume. Here’s what’s coming.
Real Weapon Loot Drops (Replacing Fragment Crafting)
The biggest system change: actual weapon drops are coming to Soulframe.
Previously, players collected weapon fragments from enemies and then crafted weapons from those fragments. Gods & Ghosts replaces this with fully crafted weapon drops that fall directly from enemies and encounters.
These drops include randomized modifiers called Tempers, some of which are faction-specific — meaning enemy factions drop weapons with modifiers tied to their faction identity.
Temper re-rolling:
- New special ingots can be crafted to re-roll tempers on existing weapons
- A future update (after Gods & Ghosts) will add the ability to remove and re-apply tempers at will — this is a later system
Crafting Loop Changes
The existing weapon crafting loop is being replaced with a refinement process. Specifics of the new refinement workflow will become clearer with the actual patch notes, but this is framed as a fundamental restructuring of how players interact with weapon progression.
Player Item Trading
Gods & Ghosts introduces item trading between players, allowing player-to-player bartering. This is confirmed to be direct player-to-player exchange, not an auction house — no centralized market at this stage.
Three New Weapons
Three new weapons are being added:
| Weapon | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Veilk | Massive axe | Heavy, likely slow high-damage archetype |
| Ilverac | Longsword | Standard-reach melee option |
| Vrusht-IX | Mace | Blunt/impact damage type |
Totem Rework
Totems are being reworked and tied directly to three core stats:
- Courage
- Spirit
- Grace
Each totem now grants bonuses to its associated stat and provides buffs for rune abilities — connecting the totem system more directly to build customization.
Additional System Changes
- See other players at world trees — social presence is expanding at hub locations
- Respec stats at any time — players can reallocate stats freely rather than committing permanently
Summer Game Fest and TennoCon
Digital Extremes announced two significant external events:
- Summer Game Fest trailer: A new gameplay trailer for Soulframe is scheduled to debut at Summer Game Fest 2026
- TennoCon: Major reveals for Soulframe are planned at this year’s TennoCon (Digital Extremes’ annual community event)
If you’re on the fence about following Soulframe, TennoCon is typically when DE makes their biggest announcements.
Background: What Is Soulframe?
Soulframe is a pre-alpha free-to-play action RPG in DE’s signature style. The aesthetic is dark fantasy rather than Warframe’s sci-fi — nature, spirits, ancient ruins. Combat is methodical and melee-focused. The game is currently only accessible through the Soulframe Preludes pre-alpha program.
Unlike Warframe, which started tiny and grew organically, DE appears to be building Soulframe with more intentional systems architecture from the start. The loot system overhaul in Gods & Ghosts is evidence of that iterative approach.
Summary
Soulframe’s Gods & Ghosts Prelude arriving in June 2026 is a systems-focused update: real loot drops replacing fragment crafting, player-to-player trading, three new weapons, totem reworks tied to stats, and free stat respec. A Summer Game Fest trailer is incoming, and TennoCon will bring the big reveals.
