GW2 Wizard’s Vault Guide: How to Earn Astral Acclaim and Spend It Wisely

The Wizard’s Vault is Guild Wars 2’s primary reward system introduced with the Secrets of the Obscure expansion, replacing the previous Seasons of the Rift achievement chest system. It provides structured daily, weekly, and seasonal objectives that reward Astral Acclaim — a currency spent at the Wizard’s Vault shop on a rotating selection of high-value items.

What Is the Wizard’s Vault?

The Wizard’s Vault is accessed through the icon in the left panel of your HUD (it looks like a glowing portal/vault). Inside, you’ll find three categories of objectives:

  • Daily Objectives — reset every day at 00:00 UTC
  • Weekly Objectives — reset every Monday at 00:00 UTC
  • Seasonal Objectives — last the full season (approximately 3 months) before resetting

Completing objectives earns Astral Acclaim. The Vault shop within the system offers items you can purchase with accumulated Acclaim. The shop also partially rotates with the season, bringing new items and retiring old ones.

Astral Acclaim: The Core Currency

Astral Acclaim is earned exclusively through Wizard’s Vault objectives and spent exclusively in the Vault shop. It does not carry over between seasons — unspent Acclaim converts to a lesser reward when the season ends. This creates a “spend before the season ends” dynamic.

Acclaim generation per type:

  • Daily objectives: Give a small amount of Acclaim per completed objective (typically 10–20 Acclaim each)
  • Weekly objectives: Give significantly more Acclaim per objective (typically 40–80 Acclaim each)
  • Seasonal objectives: One-time large Acclaim awards for completing them during the season

The most efficient Acclaim farming focuses on weekly objectives since they give the most per time invested.

Daily Objectives: What to Prioritize

Daily objectives reset every day and offer a simple set of tasks. Common daily objectives include:

  • Kill X enemies in a specific map type
  • Complete X events in an open-world area
  • Spend X gold on the Trading Post
  • Gather X resources
  • Log in and claim a daily reward

Strategy for dailies: Not all daily objectives are equal in time investment. Some (like “log in and open your daily reward”) take 10 seconds. Others (like “complete 3 Fractals”) take 20–30 minutes. Prioritize the fast ones daily and do the longer ones when you have extra time. You don’t need to complete every daily — completing enough for the daily tier reward is usually sufficient.

Which dailies to skip: Time-gated content dailies (raids, fractals if you don’t run them) can be safely skipped. The Acclaim loss is minor and not worth the time if the content isn’t part of your regular rotation.

Weekly Objectives: The Priority Target

Weekly objectives award far more Acclaim than dailies and should be your primary focus. Common weekly objectives include:

  • Win PvP matches
  • Complete WvW objectives
  • Complete specific meta events
  • Complete a set number of Fractals or Strike Missions
  • Kill world bosses

Strategy for weeklies: Focus on weeklies that align with content you already play. If you’re a PvE player, the PvE weeklies (meta events, world bosses) are fast and require no additional preparation. If you play PvP or WvW, those weeklies are best for you.

Most accessible weeklies for all players:

  • World boss kills — fast, open-world, no gear check
  • Meta event completion — join an active map during a meta
  • Gathering and crafting objectives — passive activities you’re likely doing anyway

Seasonal Objectives: Long-Term Goals

Seasonal objectives run for the full season and reward Acclaim for milestones that take weeks to achieve. These include:

  • Reach a specific PvP or WvW rank threshold
  • Craft Legendary items
  • Complete a set number of total objectives
  • Complete specific story chapters or achievements

Strategy for seasonals: Treat these as background progression. Most are naturally completed as you play through the season. Focus on daily and weekly objectives explicitly; seasonals complete themselves over time.

Wizard’s Vault Shop: What to Buy

The shop is the primary reason to accumulate Acclaim. It offers:

High-Priority Purchases:

  • Legendary Crafting Materials — materials needed for Legendary weapon/armor/trinket crafting, often exclusive to the Vault at certain times
  • Build Template Expansions — more build and equipment template slots are always useful
  • Unique Skins — cosmetic armor sets and weapon skins exclusive to the Vault

Medium-Priority Purchases:

  • Upgrade Extractors — useful QoL items for gear management
  • Black Lion Statuettes — tradeable for various cosmetics
  • Crafting Materials — bulk raw materials for active crafters

Skip or low priority:

  • Generic materials available through normal gameplay (except in large bulk quantities)
  • Skins you don’t particularly want

Important: Don’t save Acclaim for the next season. It converts at a poor rate. Spend your Acclaim before the season ends, even if you’re spending on lower-priority items — it’s still better than the conversion.

Efficient Wizard’s Vault Routine

Daily (5–15 minutes):

  1. Log in and claim your daily login reward
  2. Check daily objectives — complete the 3–5 fastest ones
  3. If doing activities anyway, pick up any applicable objectives first

Weekly (varies by content preference):

  1. Check which weeklies align with your content for the week
  2. Knock out world boss weeklies on reset day (Monday) when populations are high
  3. Complete meta event weeklies during active meta windows

Seasonal (ongoing):

  • Track progress on seasonal objectives passively
  • Don’t rush them — they’re designed to complete naturally over the season

Common Mistakes

Hoarding Acclaim until the season ends: Season-end Acclaim conversion is inefficient. Spend on items you want throughout the season.

Doing difficult dailies when easy ones exist: Not every daily is worth your time. Skip the 30-minute ones and focus on 5-minute completions.

Ignoring weeklies: Weekly objectives give the majority of Acclaim per time spent. Players who only do dailies leave significant Acclaim income unrealized.

Not checking the shop rotation: The Vault shop updates its offerings. An item you passed on last week might be gone next rotation. Check regularly.

Returning Player Tips

If you’re returning to GW2 after a break, the Wizard’s Vault system may be entirely new to you (it replaced older systems in late 2023). The key differences from older reward systems:

  • It’s account-wide — complete objectives on any character
  • Seasonal rewards are better than they used to be under the old system
  • Astral Acclaim can purchase some items that were previously very hard to obtain

The Vault is one of the best reasons to log in regularly even if you only have 15 minutes to play. Consistent daily check-ins accumulate substantial Acclaim over a season.
