Cooking isn’t just about food; it’s about efficient XP gains. In Genfanad, leveling cooking can be a slog if you pick the wrong recipes. This route focuses on availability of ingredients and XP per hour.
Levels 1-15: Cooked Meat
Start your journey in the newbie area.
- Recipe: Raw Meat -> Fire -> Cooked Meat.
- Source: Cows. There is almost always a pen of cows near the starter town. Kill them, collect the meat, and cook it on the nearest range (often inside the local tavern).
- Why: It’s free, fast, and the respawn rate on cows is high.
Levels 15-30: Apple Pie
Once you hit 15, switch to baking.
- Recipe: Apple + Flour + Water/Bowl -> Apple Pie.
- Source: Check the vendors!
- Apples: Often sold cheaply by the food ingredient vendor.
- Flour: Also vendor-buyable or ground from wheat if you want to save copper.
- Why: The XP jump is significant, and you don’t have to rely on combat drops. You can stand at a cooking station and process hundreds of these quickly.
Levels 30-50: Vegetable Stew
The long haul to 50 requires farming.
- Recipe: Potato + Carrot + Water -> Vegetable Stew.
- Source: Agriculture.
- Potatoes & Carrots: You can grow these yourself or buy them from players leveling their Farming skill. They are usually abundant on the market.
- Why: This is the most efficient “bulk” recipe. The ingredients are staples of the economy, ensuring you never run out of supplies to cook.
